This weeks topic I wanted to know how you all felt about Sex and Gender association. We are in a era in which an entire community of people are asking for support. They want respect, answers and are raising their voices to be heard. Mentioning they feel, isolated, unwelcomed, confused, unjust, and misunderstood in their lives. A community that are going to great lengths and using every resource to be heard, equalized and treated how they feel and see themselves. So let’s delve into gender/sex and what we can consider moving forward.
Can we imagine if there wasn’t the existence of paperwork from vital statistics, physical anatomy identification, birth and death certificates that determines our gender/sex. Can we imagine being identified at birth for instance a “girl” given a name, “Mary” and having your parents then gloat every chance they get that their daughter will be a princess and marry a prince one day, all the while you are disconnected with that concept. The realization that you are not connected to the bows in your hair, the dresses you are made to wear, the name you were given and one step further the body changes that are physically taken place that you are not cooperating with. Now, let’s imagine the gender association doesn’t exist, you are born as ” baby doe” your parent’s bring you home and name you what they want according to what your personality presents, dress you as they want, gender associated or not and putting no other labels, gender/sex demands on you until you are able and ready to define your assignment association.
Do you think there needs to be a much greater issue of understanding when you hear from people who talk about not fitting in with the gender/sex identity they were given. Should we have the compassion to understand what it feels like to be trapped in a cage, never breaking free? Should we have the empathy and provide education by trained professionals who are able to teach and not invoke or provoke the understanding. Is it our human obligation and responsibility to treat all people fair without prejudice and discrimination? We are called to serve others in a just way, without preconception. When this imagination becomes a reality is it then our responsibility to allow all humans born into the human race to have a fair start of living a life stigma free! Let’s imagine, we didn’t have to imagine and love thy neighbor prejudice free!
All are welcomed in this place,
T.
