I’ve read several articles and over the years have asked dozens of questions to friends, family and strangers, DO YOU VOTE WHY OR WHY NOT. I was someone who particularly didn’t care about politics so in my mind voting meant I cared about politics. The older I became and understood that my vote wasn’t all about politics it was about my right to vote and my privilege, it gave me a sense of pride and power that I welcomed at the polls. So excited about each election, I am expecting everyone in my contact to share the same point of view. But as I asked and asked and asked I realized that many people felt the complete opposite of how I was feeling during election time and I eventually realized from the continuous comments regarding politics and voting was that I had to respect their positions and so I changed the subject, lol! Yes, there are so many reasons why people don’t vote and although it’s noted as an obligation and constitutional duty it is not mandatory by law so people have the right to choose to vote or not to vote. Does it matter? Well, does it????
Below is a link to an article I enjoyed reading with 5 reasons why they say people don’t vote! Thank you Leah Rodriguez and Global Citizen for this informative article.
